Consolation was composed in memory of Mrs Chris Belshaw, my mentor, colleague and friend. An advanced solo piano piece with a slow-fast-slow structure, with a lyrical and melodic opening, morphing into a lively mixed-metre middle section and then a return to the slow, soft and consoling coda. Ideal for senior piano performances and HSC repertoire.
