This second book in the Mallet Jam series has been created to give music educators MORE exciting and accessible performance pieces for xylophones and other tuned percussion. It is ideal for use in the music classroom (middle school), percussion ensembles, as well as for percussion performance repertoire. The pieces range in ability with many having scope for differentiation of skill techniques within one piece of repertoire. Teacher notes are provided for each piece sharing ideas and suggestions on how to make your own unique arrangements, varying texture and tone colour. Add in body percussion to reinforce rhythm work, and create movement or dances to further enhance the music, plus sing vocal parts to some of the pieces. Examples are often provided on ways to begin simple improvisations and provide teachers with a springboard into further creative and composition activities.
